School background

Image
Edundja senior secondary school commonly is situated in Edundja, a settlement in northern Namibia Ohangwena region, approximately 15km east of Oshikango and close to the Angolan border. The school opened in 1998 with only a single building and expanded gradually, year by year. Initially serving grade 8 to 10, there are expectations for it to evolve into a full secondary school covering up to grade 12. Partnerships and infrastructure development  from outset, stakeholders helped  equip the school; in 1999,  the  Norwegian Embassy in  Namibia donated 25 computers, and on the 28 Augut 1999, President  Sam Nujoma  officially inaugurated the facility. These contributions were critical in supporting both physical infrastructure and technological resources during the school formative years.  Role in the Edundja community Edundja its...

Learners

Image
Current Learner Context Grade Levels: Typically grades 8–10, with plans to include Grades 11–12 as boarding capacity and infrastructure grow. Approximate Size: ~250 learners in total, giving an average of ~28 students per class, suggesting moderately sized classrooms. Nature of Learners: As a public school in a rural, border region (close to Angola), learners likely come from local villages and possibly cross-border areas, facing challenges such as access, infrastructure, and support services. Edundja itself is a settlement prone to seasonal flooding, which can disrupt schooling—especially during rainy or cold periods, potentially affecting learner attendance, safety, and retention.
